Patriarch Theodoros II of Alexandria and All Africa held a telephone conversation on Monday, 9 March 2026, with Patriarch John X of Antioch and Patriarch Theophilos III of Jerusalem, in light of the difficult days facing the Middle East and the trials endured by the peoples of the region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During this communication, His Beatitude the Pope and Patriarch of Alexandria expressed to the two Patriarchs the sincere support of the Church of the Holy Apostle Mark, together with his fraternal love.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

His Beatitude assured the Primates that the Patriarchate of Alexandria<\/a> is following the developments in the region with deep concern and is praying unceasingly for the prevalence of peace, stability, and reconciliation among the peoples.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It was especially emphasized that the bonds among the Patriarchs of the Middle East are not only historical and ecclesiastical, but also deeply fraternal and personal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

His Beatitude the Patriarch of Alexandria shares with His Beatitude Patriarch John X of Antioch a spiritual relationship and long-standing personal friendship dating back to the years of their studies at the Theological School of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the same time, His Beatitude maintains a special connection with His Beatitude Patriarch Theophilos III of Jerusalem<\/a>, also rooted in the particular reverence which His Beatitude holds for the venerable Patriarch Benedict of Jerusalem (\u20201980).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Concluding, His Beatitude affirmed that the Church of the Holy Apostle Mark continues to pray that the God of Peace may grant wisdom to leaders, protection to the innocent, and hope to the peoples of the region, so that peace and reconciliation may prevail.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
