On Sunday, June 29, the feast of the commemoration of the Apostles Peter and Paul, a great blessing was witnessed as the cathedral dedicated to Saint Mark, was consecrated in the Holy Diocese of Eldoret and Northern Kenya, attracting hierarchies from all over East Africa and a special hierarch of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of Aerica, Metropolitan Sevastianos of Atlanta.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Built in the beautiful county of Nandi, Kapsabet town, the Holy Church of Saint Mark the Evangelist was consecrated and dedicated for the service of God and the salvation of His people, hence will be used for worship for generations and generations to come.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In his speech, the host, His Grace Neofitos of Eldoret, said, \u201cToday is a very special day in our Church that we can all rejoice and be glad in the Lord because the Lord is God.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

 \u201cFor us to be here today and to participate together in the sanctification and purification of this Church of Saint Mark here in this beautiful county of Nandi in the Diocese of Eldoret is a great blessing,\u201d Bishop Neofitos added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Commenting on the consecration mystery, in a Facebook post, Bishop Neofitos wrote, \u201cAnd we all sealed it by the signature of our humble and unworthy  hands, not because we were powerful, but because we were humbled.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cAnd now, this holy table is ready for services. All sacraments will be conducted on this holy table, and shall be a blessing to all!\u201d He added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The realization of the construction and completion of the beautiful cathedral dedicated to Saint Mark was generously supported by the faithful of St. Mark Greek Orthodox Church Boca Raton<\/a>, Florida, United States of America.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In appreciation, the Bishop of Eldoret, Neofitos notes, \u201cMission accomplished, the Church is now a holy place,\u201d thanking the brothers and sisters from the United States of America and all the faithful of our Church.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI am really thankful.\u00a0 May the name of God be glorified in this wonderful mission. Thank you all, we love you,\u201d he added<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In a special way, Bishop Neofitos thanked Metropolitan Sevastianos of Atlanta for accompanying the team from Florida and Chicago for the consecration of St. Mark Church.<\/p>\n\n\n

He specifically noted that Metropolitan Sevastianos<\/a>\u2019 presence in the Diocese of Eldoret for this sacred function sealed the long-term relationship and partnership in mission work between the United States of America and Africa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Other Hierarchs present during the consecration service included: Archbishop Makarios of Nairobi, Metropolitan Jeronymos of Kampala, His Grace Bishop Silvester of Jinja and Eastern Uganda, and His Grace Bishop Nektarios of Gulu and Northern Uganda.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In his concluding remarks, Bishop Neofitos, the host, glorified God for the exceptional day, stressing that history has been made in the Diocese of Eldoret and the Orthodox Church in Kenya, generally.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

 He gave thanks to God for all blessings and for the visitors who joined them, noting that their presence and their thanksgiving will continue to support the ministries in the Diocese of Eldoret, beseeching them for eternal reward and blessings of the Lord.<\/p>\n\n\n
