Yesterday, Wednesday, August 27, 2025, a philanthropic medical care team of nine (9) volunteer doctors and nurses from Greece arrived in Accra, the capital of Ghana, to offer their medical services to those in need of healthcare in the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This charitable medical mission was organized by the Holy Orthodox Archdiocese of Accra, under the blessing and paternal care of the Patriarchate of Alexandria and All Africa, which continuously provides for the spiritual and material needs of its faithful throughout the African continent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The mission was carried out in cooperation with the Hellenic Ministry of Foreign Affairs<\/a>, the Ministry of Health of Ghana, the Honorary Consulate General of Greece in Ghana, the Hellenic Community of Accra, the Orthodox Missionary Fraternity of Thessaloniki, and the NGO “Constantine Foundation”.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The doctors will visit cities and villages across Ghana, providing free medical care, examinations, and pharmaceutical support to patients of all ages.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Immediately upon their arrival at the premises of the Holy Metropolis, the sorting and distribution of 22 suitcases containing various medicines took place. These medicines had been collected in Greece as donations from institutions, companies, organizations, parishes, and private individuals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Today, August 28, 2025, the medical team from Greece, together with a Ghanaian physician, three nurses, three priests, and four members of the Orthodox Youth of Ghana<\/a>, traveled to the Ecclesiastical Community of Saint John Chrysostom in the village of Gomoa Fomena, in the Central Region of Ghana, located 95 km from the capital, Accra.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Inside the Holy Church, eight different medical units were organized, providing consultations and treatment to a total of 300 people from the village and the surrounding areas over the course of six continuous hours.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

All patients\u2014women, men, and young children\u2014waited patiently to be examined by the doctors and to receive medication and medical guidance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Meanwhile, children attended an educational session using a digital projector, where they were taught proper hygiene practices for hands, body, and teeth, as preventive measures against disease.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The mission was led by His Eminence Daniel<\/a>, Metropolitan of Accra.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the evening, the team returned to Accra to prepare for the next day\u2019s mission in the city of New Town, Tema, Greater Accra Region, at the Holy Church of Saint Nicholas.<\/p>\n\n\n
