The Holy Metropolis of Nea Krini and Kalamaria and its Shepherd, His Eminence Metropolitan Ioustinos, with special spiritual joy and emotion, were informed of the canonisation of the late Archimandrite Chrysostomos Papasarantopoulos, who now abides in the heavens, the missionary of Africa, by the Holy Synod of the Patriarchate of Alexandria.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Saint Chrysostomos <\/a>(Papasarantopoulos) is closely connected with the local Church of Kalamaria, since he is the founder of the Holy Church of Saint Paraskevi in Nea Krini, where he served as parish priest (1947\u20131949), leaving behind a significant pastoral and spiritual legacy and the reputation of a sanctified man.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Already, the Holy Metropolis of Nea Krini and Kalamaria, wishing to honour the contribution of Saint Chrysostomos, at the initiative of the late Metropolitan Prokopios, erected a monument in his honour in the courtyard of the Holy Church.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Following these events, by decision of His Eminence Metropolitan Ioustinos of Nea Krini and Kalamaria:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On Wednesday, 8 October, the day of his canonisation, the bells of the Holy Church of Saint Paraskevi in Nea Krini rang out joyfully.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A directive was given for the iconography of a holy icon of the Saint, which will be placed in the Holy Church of Saint Paraskevi in Nea Krini for veneration and the blessing of the faithful.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It was decreed that his memory shall be celebrated each year on 29 December in the aforementioned Holy Church.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Saint Chrysostomos has been included in the choir of the Saints of the local Church.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It was decided that an official letter shall be sent expressing the gratitude of His Eminence Metropolitan Ioustinos of Nea Krini and Kalamaria, the holy clergy, and the devout people of the local Church to His Beatitude Pope and Patriarch Theodoros II of Alexandria and All Africa, and to the Holy Synod surrounding him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It was also determined that his canonisation will be celebrated solemnly on Sunday, 2 November 2025, at the Holy Church of Saint Paraskevi in Nea Krini.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
