Today, Tuesday, October 7, 2025, the Holy and Sacred Synod of the Ancient Patriarchate of Alexandria convened under the presidency of His Beatitude Pope and Patriarch Theodoros II, elected new Bishops of the Holy Synod of the Patriarchate of Alexandria and All Africa.

During the sacred assembly, the Synod proceeded with the canonical election of new Bishops to serve the faithful of the Church across Africa.

According to news sources from Romfea.gr , below are the newly elected Hierarchs of the Holy Patriarchate of Alexandria and All Africa

  • Bishop Mark of Kisumu was canonically elected Bishop of Gaborone.
  • Archimandrite Ioakim Skretas was elected Bishop of Kigali (Rwanda).
  • Archimandrite Philip Anhava Mugadizi was elected Bishop of Kisumu (Kenya).
  • Archimandrite Niphon Daskalakis was elected Bishop of Majunga (Northern Madagascar).
  • Archimandrite Damaskinos Al-Razai was elected Bishop of Mareotis.
  • Archimandrite Timotheos Kapsalis was elected Bishop of Eleusis.

The Holy Synod’s decisions reflect its commitment to the spiritual guidance and pastoral care of Orthodox Christians throughout the continent.
