Missionary Outreach Strengthened, Diocese of Gulu Clergy Receive Motorcycles

Missionary Outreach Diocese Gulu Clergy Motorcycles

Missionary outreach programs in the Orthodox Diocese of Gulu and Northern Uganda are thrilled with joy and profound gratitude following the successful receipt and distribution of seven motorcycles donated to support the mission and pastoral work of the Church across Northern Uganda.

The motorcycles were handed over on July 18, 2026, by His Grace Bishop Nektarios  Kabuye, the presiding hierarch, to selected priests, catechists, and dedicated volunteers who serve Orthodox communities spread across vast and often difficult-to-reach areas of the Diocese.

This generous contribution marks a significant milestone in strengthening the Church’s ability to minister to the faithful living in remote villages and mission stations.

For many years, clergy and church workers in the Diocese have faced enormous transportation challenges while carrying out their sacred responsibilities. Serving a geographically expansive region with poor road networks and limited public transportation.

Many priests, catechists, and volunteers have often traveled distances on foot, by bicycle, or through unreliable public means in order to celebrate the Divine Liturgy, administer the Holy Sacraments, provide pastoral care, teach the Orthodox faith, and support vulnerable children in mission communities.

New motorcycles in Gulu Diocese to enhance outreach efforts

The newly acquired motorcycles will greatly enhance the Church’s outreach efforts, enabling more frequent pastoral visits, liturgical services, catechetical instruction, and philanthropic activities. They will also improve access to mission centers where volunteers assist in the education and spiritual formation of children, particularly in communities that lack permanent church structures and educational facilities.

His Grace Nektarios, together with the recipients of the motorcycles, expressed heartfelt appreciation to the benefactors whose generosity has made this project possible. The donation is expected to have a lasting impact on the growth and development of Orthodox Christian communities throughout Northern Uganda, helping to bridge the distance between mission centers and ensuring that no faithful member is left without spiritual care.

The Diocese of Gulu and Northern Uganda remains committed to expanding the Orthodox mission despite the challenges of distance and limited resources. This timely support serves as a powerful testimony of Christian love and solidarity, inspiring hope among clergy, catechists, volunteers, and the faithful they serve.

With thanksgiving to God and deep appreciation to all supporters, the Diocese prays that the Lord abundantly bless those who contributed to this noble initiative, strengthening the mission of Christ and advancing the growth of Orthodox Christianity throughout Northern Uganda and beyond.
