On Saturday, 24 May 2025, seventeen (17) seminarians of Makarios III Theological Seminary, Nairobi, graduated with Diplomas in Theology in a ceremony presided over by the institution’s chancellor, Archbishop Makarios of Nairobi.
The ceremony was graced by the presence of His Grace Neofitos D Kong’ai, the Bishop of Eldoret and Northern Kenya, the Vicar of Nyeri and Mt Kenya, Rev. Fr. Cyprian, a representative from the Kenya Ministry of Education, representatives from various missions, the seminarians, dedicated teachers and supportive parents.

In a Facebook post, Archbishop Makarios wrote, “The graduation ceremony was a moving moment of thanksgiving, reflection and unity in Christ, We Honor the achievements of our graduating class. It is a proud and emotional moment — a culmination of three years of hard work, spiritual growth and academic dedication.”
He further noted, “As we celebrated this milestone, we are reminded of the words of ST. JOHN CHRYSOSTOM: This is the cause of all evils — not knowing the Scriptures” adding, “It is this sacred knowledge, planted and nurtured at the Seminary, that we now send forth with our graduates as they begin their journey in service to God and His Church.”

“As you serve, remember that God is with you every step of the way. ‘He will give strength to the weary and increase the power of the weak’ – ISAIAH 40:29.” He added.
The graduates were congratulated upon this achievement and were wished blessings of God ahead of their mission in serving the Orthodox Church in Africa.
