On November 1, 2025, the Ministry of Tourism of the Republic of Zambia hosted the 5th Diplomatic Fun Fair at the Showgrounds Main Arena in Lusaka under the theme “Celebrating Diplomats and International Relations Through Cultural Exchange,” where the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of Zambia highlighted Greece’s Cultural Legacy at the Diplomatic event.
The annual event brought together embassies, cultural institutions, and organizations from across the world to promote global diversity, understanding, and friendship through cuisine, art, and cultural performances.
Representing the Hellenic Republic and the Greek Orthodox Mission in Zambia, the Orthodox Archdiocese of Zambia and Mozambique took part in the celebration with great enthusiasm, emphasizing that Greece is not only a country but also an enduring idea, a way of life rooted in peace, education, and the Olympic spirit.
His Eminence Archbishop Ioannis Tsaftaridis, Metropolitan of Zambia and Mozambique, noted that Greece’s contribution to humanity goes beyond its borders, as the foundation of democracy, philosophy, and science.
“We are attending this festival not as a country, but as an idea — as friends of all the people of the world,” said Archbishop Tsaftaridis, underscoring the universal values of friendship, learning, and peace.
The Archdiocese’s exhibition booth drew significant attention with its display of Ancient Greek archives, artistic works from the Olympic Games, and performances by George Jelilis, Vice Admiral of the Hellenic Navy, world champion, and Olympic medalist.
Archbishop Ioannis was joined by Zambian Olympians and Paralympic athletes, who together embodied the spirit of unity and sportsmanship.
Visitors were also treated to an authentic taste of Greek culture through traditional Greek cuisine, music, and dance, performed by Mr. Mwape Constantinos Morianos and the Greek Ladies Group, creating a lively and interactive cultural experience.
The Archdiocese of Zambia expressed deep gratitude for Zambia’s hospitality and peaceful spirit, extending a message of global unity, “From One Zambia – One Nation to One World – One Family.”
The 2025 Diplomatic Fun Fair once again served as a powerful platform for nations to celebrate their heritage and promote dialogue, peace, and international friendship—values that remain central to both Greece and Zambia.
