Kenya, an East African country where the Orthodox faith has registered incredible growth in recent times, showcased breathtaking moments in celebrating the Resurrection of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Consisting of four Hierarchies spiritually administering the four (4) Dioceses of Kenya; The Archbishopric of Nairobi under Archbishop Geronda Makarios, Diocese of Eldoret under Bishop Neofitos, Diocese of Nyeri under Bishop Panaretos and the Diocese of Kisumu under Bishop Marcos, we managed to gather a few moments during the Holy Friday – with the Epitafios and the Resurrection services.

His Eminence Archbishop Makarios led the Good Friday service at St. Cosmas and Damian Valley Road in Nairobi, where in attendance were the ambassador of Greece and the honorary Consul of the Republic of Kenya in Greece, among other Christians.

The Archbishop celebrated the midnight Resurrection service at Makarios III Theological Seminary chapel, together with the seminarians and other faithful.

In Eldoret, before the Resurrection service, His Grace Bishop Neofitos led a thrilling procession with the tomb of Christ (Epitafios), which, as always been the norm, left revealers inspired by the enthusiasm and faith in hope of the Resurrection demonstrated by the faithful together with their Bishop.

The festivities of the Holy week were climaxed at the Orthodox Church of the Virgin Mary, Cyril and Methodius in Kamobon with the midnight service of the Resurrection.
Christ’s Resurrection in the Orthodox Diocese of Nyeri
Meanwhile, in the Holy Diocese of Nyeri, the moments were no different from the latter. His Grace Bishop Panaretos led the faithful into the Good Friday celebrations at St. Matthew Orthodox Church in Makengi, where the faithful gathered in prayer and reverence, commemorating the sacred burial of our Lord Jesus Christ and reflecting on His boundless love and sacrifice for humanity.

The Bishop then joined the faithful at Saint George Thangathi for the Pascha Vigil.
